Forget about Jedi – the new Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi Series is about the JE’DAII.

These JE’DAII are the predecessors of the Jedi we all know…they’re also a bunch of wimps that have been sequestered in black hole surrounded planet Tython to protect them.

Yeaah we’re talking about the new Dark Horse comic book here – it’s an amazing concept, but unlike Legacy which from the first page was PURE AWESOME. This title might take a bit more time till it grows on us.

What Dark Horse is doing here is giving us the ultimate prequel – but it’s a bit too far fetched in some respects..so far.

Anyways – we do find out what JE’DAII (or later Jedi) means it’s a Dai Bendu terms meaning : Mystic Center

These early jedi were all about finding balance between the light and the darkness. Though at this early stage the darkness are not the Sith.

The evil forces are led by Force Hounds like Xesh – that’s the dude on the cover of issue #1. He’s working for the Rakatan and their empire.

Apparently and this shocked us.. the Rakatan are the dudes that turn Tatooine from a lush paradise into a dessert too..

We wouldn’t dare of saying NO to mr/lt/commander Worf – but apparently he got rejected a whole lot.

This amazing montage of clips shows just how much he got the NO.

This series is also really picking up nicely…though this particular issue was all about one thing..

JAHAN CROSS ON THE RUN.

Nothing more really, the agent of the empire is running from the corporate sector police (into Han Solo’s smuggling containers too!) but no new major revelations about the plot.

Still, an entertaining run..but the real plot is hopefully coming in the next issue as we finally see what this conspiracy is all about. Issues like these make us wonder if we should just wait for the trade..cause then we don’t have to wait a month to see what happens next…

The first issue of KOTOR War was ok…but this second issue really picks up the pace.

We learn about the new Mandalorian Jedi..which is a neat idea and one that we hadn’t seen before It’s also neat that they drafted Zayne and the commander of his ship too…though that didn’t quite work out.

This is an engaging story..we’re not quite sure what happens on the next page and that’s how we like it. This is a story that keeps us guessing and amazed by it unfolds.

We should see Zayne finding a way to leave the Mandalorian army sooner rather than later..but it’ll be interesting to see how much damage he does first.

It was 22 yrs ago that the Enterprise B helped defend the Klingon Khitomer outpost against a Romulan attack…

WOW does time fly, tonight is officially 22 years since Star Trek TNG 3×15 Yesterday’s Enterprise was first aired. It is easily our favorite TNG episode for so many reasons and the fact that tonight is 22 yrs after it first aired brings back a rush of memories.

REMEMBER when we all waited for new Star Trek episodes week after week? TNG has very few bad episodes and we were always treated to amazing content. Yesterday’s Enterprise went above and beyond though.

We got the return of Tasha Yaar (and not as the Romulan Commander Seeyla); We had a dark world where the collars were just a bit higher, every ship officer on the Enterprise carried a side arm and Klingons were on the verge of toppling the Federation.

Who didn’t get goose bumps when Picard tells the Commander of the Enterprise B in hushed tones that the war was going much worse than was commonly known..and that one ship in the hear and now wouldn’t make a difference but 22 yrs ago in the past it would.

Klingons vs the Federation as it should be…if only for an episode with battle, timeline issues and Picard at his finest hour..and then once the ship goes back in the rift…it’s all good again.

22 years, time does fly. Man do we miss that show..

Wow what a great week for SciFi comic fans!

We’ve got at least four really great titles out this week from Dark Horse alone to look forward too.

At the top of  our list is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: War #2 – sure we weren’t thrilled with the first issue, but hey we’re sure thrilled to have KOTOR back!

Next up is STAR WARS CRIMSON EMPIRE III EMPIRE LOST #4 (OF 6). This is a series that we waited years for and each issue is better than the next.

Rounding out this week’s Star Wars triumvirate of comics is

STAR WARS AGENT OF The EMPIRE IRON ECLIPSE #3 (OF 5) – we loved the last issue and can hardly wait to crack this one open.

Dark Horse also has DARK MATTER #2 (OF 4) – which is written by the team behind Stargate (the show!) and hey it’s kinda neat too.

And next week – Dawn of the Jedi #1 is out!! can this month get any better?

We were excited when Star Trek Online first came online – but something happened over the last year. We got bored. It’s well known that playing as Klingon sucks in this game and hey who doesn’t want to be a Klingon.

The game is supposed to soon be getting btr…and perhaps even more important — it’s now Free to Play. We suspect that Free to Play will help keep this game alive another year, maybe two but no more. So if you haven’t tried this out yet, you should cause it’s free and time it likely running out.

Wow. Just wow. This is the week that we SciFi – or more specifically – Star Wars comic book fans have been waiting for ..ever since Dark Horse ended Legacy.

John Ostrander and Jan Duursema are back – the best writer/artist duo in Star Wars history are BACK!!

This all about the beginning of the Jedi – on a planet called Typhon – which actually plays a really prominent role in the Star Wars The Old Republic MMORG. All Jedi characters start on Typhon for their training.

Dawn of the Jedi #0 is out which isn’t technically a story as much as it is a reference guide to help us all understand that awesomeness that is to come.

20120128-202736.jpg No we weren’t big fans of the first issue of this series…but it turns out we’ve been proven wrong.

Issue #2 is awesome.

Jahan Cross is a real character and this title has a real plot. We can hardly remember the last time there was as much intrigue in ANY Star Wars title as this one. Yeaah he really is the James Bond of Star Wars..he lands the lady (then is framed for her death) while still getting the step daughter to help him out. Twist after twist.

It’s still not entirely clear to us how this will end up (which is a good thing, easy predictable plots are boring). We don’t know how Jahan will get out of this or what the Iron Eclipse really is all about (yet).

While we weren’t too excited with the first issue, man are we glad we stuck around for the second, this book is a keeper and another winner from John Ostrander (no it’s still not as AWESOME as Legacy but hey it’s still a great read).

KOTOR is BAck! thank you Dark Horse for bringing back this great era.

Zayne Carrick is back and he’s still kinda sorta on the run, but this time not from his own destiny…he’s trying to run from his duty to the Republic…what is strange though is that it’s not clear what happened between Knight of the Old Republic #50 and this issue..it’s just a whole blank era…i thought he connected with that former slave captain girl and was still working with the crooks…the missing years or gap isn’t a good thing and really doesnt make this feel like a continuation of the first series.

Sure it’s ZAYNE CARRICK but the character doesn’t feel like it should.

That said – he’s in Revan’s Army fighting Mandalorians. how cool is that? We barely saw Revan in the first KOTOR (and hey we haven’t seen him here yet either), but still. Even with the time gap, this is fine era, and this first issue is loaded with action. We’re looking forward to the next issue!

Sure we liked the NBC show Chuck when it first aired – it was cool, it was funny and it was unique.

Over the years the show just went from fun to lame real fast, to the point where we haven’t been able to sit through a whole episode in some time. So we were a little surprised to see that tonight is actually the series finale.

Yeaaah we had thought this show was cancelled a long time ago.

You suck CHUCK.

Monty Python – or at least 4 of its critical cast members are having a reunion of sorts.

Terry Gilliam, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Eric Idle are all lending their voice talents to a new scifi comedy called Absolutely Anything (kinda sounds like a Douglas Adams name for a book doesn’t it?)

Terry Jones – another familiar Monty Python member – is directing the flick.

“It’s not a Monty Python picture, but it certainly has that sensibility,” Jones told Variety.

what do you get when you try and crowdsource the greatest movie ever made?

You get the greatest crowdsourced movie ever made – a fan version of star wars. Sure it’s hokey at more points than i care to count and some performances are pretty bad, some are awesome and the totality of the effort is astounding. This is what fandom is all about. Let’s just hope that Lucas doesn’t decide to try and sue.

20120122-224714.jpg We’ve finally gotten around to reading the final issue of the latest Dark Horse Knight Errant title, Deluge #5 and it’s a real treat.

Kerra returns to save Daiman’s homeworld from being flooded by Zodoh the Hutt…yeaah it’s strange Kerra saving Daiman–but it’s really all about the ppl right?

In any event, a decent story, though the ending of how one ship was able to crash into Zodoh’s capital ship and destroy it…is a little unbelievable.

The final ending of Zodoh though is a bit dark..with Daiman using Zodoh’s own tech against him to end the hutt’s life…somehow fitting.

Well that’s it for Knight Errant until June when the next series – titled Escape – takes off and we can hardly wait.

Terra Nova’s first (and likely last) season is now done. The two hours season/series finale was a fun tour-de-force with all the great element that make this show work.

dinosaurs, heroism, a little sexual tension..the dad that won’t leave his kids..

But let’s cut to the chase…

What is in the Badlands? They found the remains of an 18th century ship?…and the Phoenix people all run to it when they thought they were cut off from the future?

It has to be the BERMUDA TRIANGLE or some other kind of second gate/portal to the future.

Yeaah it’s that obvious.

The mindreader episode was kinda cool…that cortezapham stuff can do amazing things…

also kinda weird that ‘Sam’ wrote all the copies of the First People …who is that guy anyways?

But the dominant theme…again is Peter, FauxLivia and Olivia.

No sh*t that the still has feelings for Olivia…as the mind-reader told Olivia.

Star Trek Typhon Pact Rough Beasts of Empire – REVIEW – Romulans Unite as Sisko ditches his family. February 3, 2011

Star Trek Typhon Pact Rough Beasts of Empire by David R. George III – is a decent book, though not quite as engaging as Typhon Pact: Seize the Fire (which we recently reviewed).

This book is about two things, Ben Sisko and Romulus, with a side of Tzenkethi for good measure.

The Sisko part bothered us — ALOT. This book portrayed the Emissary as a man that was able to walk out on his family. No it didn’t make sense to us either, though the author tried (unsuccessfully) to convince us otherwise.

In general the characterization and writing about Sisko was just wrong and out of character.

In contrast, the plotting with developments in the Romulan Star and Imperial State is brilliant. The tense drama was astounding and we really didn’t quite know how it would end. The manipulation of the Tzenkethi to create a new Praetor was really slick.

The overall broader tactical and strategic nature of the Typhon Pact after this is really quite different isn’t it? We’ve got a united Romulus under a non-militant Praetor and we’ve got Sela (remember her?) as the head of the T’al Sheare -neat.

A decent read and one that really extends the Typhon Pact storyline, we can hardly wait until we read the next book in this (so far) really great series.

A little later than usual — we finally got our Star Trek: Ships of the Line: 2011 Wall Calendar. The pic above is for January.

We had never before seen the Enterprise XCV – the first Enterprise — not not NX-01..but a Vulcan inspired starship. There is a really awesome middle section panorama in the calendar as well which explains why the XCV failed…in the same middle section there is some awesome pics of the NX-01 retrofit, which makes it look a whole lot more like the NCC-1701.

The brilliant artist/renderer behind the XCV is Mark Rademaker and he explains in this blog post how he built this ship that none of us never knew  — or saw before now.

ok V is a decent show, but it’s starting to get strung out a bit too much.

The skinning of Malik could have been our first real glimpse of a live V – tail, teeth and all…

but instead we just see some green skin.

the continuing trips of Anna to see Diana are dumb – ok your daughter will betray you…what else have you got to say?

Tyler only has half the DNA he’s supposed too?

And now the only remaining question is will Ryan betray the 5th column or will he doublecross Anna?
