Though you do have a point, Krayt was NOT a disgrace to sith. Just because he didn’t take up an apprentice, doesn’t mean he’s a disgrace. Yes, they would kill eachother off, but then there would have to be one left, wouldn’t there? Maybe he was just waiting for that to happen. Look at Malak. He didn’t have an offical apprentice. He just took all the ones that Revan had converted and kept training them. If Revan hadn’t come back, Malak would have conquered the whole galaxy even without following the rule of two.

I want Ben to kill jacen out of rage, vengence, but mostly out of hatred. This would Create a new sith and kill Ben int he procces. It would make luke hold back against him so that ben could kill him easily.

BTW as for the guy who come sback…it should be nither anakin solo, skywalker, nom anor, chewie, or anyone else suggested.

IT SHOULD BE DARTH VADER he never really died, anakin did on the death star, what became of him? was he expelled from his body after anakin took over and threw papa palpatine into the reactor? and then becom and evil spirit liek exar kun was? Vader could school everone in the NJO b/c he schooled luke at cloud city. he only lost to luke on the death star b/c he was trying to keep him alive to turn to the darkside plus he had internal battles against anakin at the same time.
BTW krayt is a disgrace to the sith, he didnt follow the rule of two. the darkside is doomed to destroy itself if it doesnt follow it.
As Grand Admiril Thrawn said “all men want power, and the more they have the more they want”, which woudl mean jacen’s followers and krayt’s will kill eachother. the only flaw witht he rule of two is the fact that one of two can be redeemed (like anakin).

I hope all of the jedi die.

I don’t have a clue why people like Jacen. He is a terrible character. He is no way similar to Anakin. Anakin Skywalker went to dark side to save his wife simple as that. Unfortunately, he was the cause of it by believing she betrayed him to Obi-wan. He was fooled by Sidious.
Jacen did turn bad to save anyone. He seeked out the death of a loved one. Anakin did not seek out the death of any of his loved ones. He wanted to get them to rule with him.
Luke won’t be killed. He is too powerful and the main character after Anakin. If you don’t like Luke than don’t like Star Wars. Luke won’t die by anyone’s hands. The death of Mara Jade was stupid. I would be mad if I were Timothy Zahn.
Jacen is a wimp. I hope Anakin Skywalker helps Luke or Ben in his destruction.

Well I do kinda think its gonna be Anakin coming back. On purpose who knows but I think Jacen or Thalia will be the reason he comes back. Maybe Thalia force warps back in time like Jacen has been doing with her recently and warn Anakin about what is to be his fate? Meh who knows. I almost stoped reading after they killed Anakin off. Would love to see him come back. He may even just come back with the help of the force to try and turn Jacen back to the light.

jaina should strip him of the force because no battle with jacen should be all lightsaber.plus if he is stripped instead of killed there are new stories to be told. jacen redeeming himself and regaining his powers, or he could become sith again and then be killed. hes too strong to be killed quickly. he deserves to be like qel droma and live on to train more jedi or sith. maybe he can even help krayt somehow by teaching him things that some consider to be unnatural.

Jacen is, in a way, manipulating himself. He wanted to make the galaxy safe for Allana and the others but the more people he kills to achieve this goal, the more other planets want to get involved in the war. Akanah was right when she told him that he would become like his grandfather in TJK. But there is a difference. Skywalker did it to keep Padme safe so she would not die. Jacen did it so Allana can live without fear of death.

Technically Jacen isn’t even himself, he thinks he is but he’s not. He thinks he’s doing it for “the best of Alana” but killing certain people doesn’t really seem to be helping at all. As for who is going to kill him, Jaina would only kill a corpse, seeing as he is technically dead and Darth Caedus has taken over him. Ben on the other hand would be a better ending because he’d be killing his mother’s murderer. But that’s just what I think. (I’m not sure where this whole thing got left off so yeah)

Jacen will not be redeemed, because there is nothing to redeem to! He does what he does for the good of many. If the novels follow through with the comic series, then Jacen will pave the way for the discarding of the rule of two when he finds himself highly outnumbered by the jedi and still respecting the rule of two. The sith have never been obliterated. There is only a handfull of dark jedi who don’t count to carry the sith torch. There has never been a complete eradication of either jedi OR sith in history. There is no one else BUT jacen to carry the sith torch, so until a suitable apprentice has been found, he CANNOT die.

I think it’s possible for Jacen to be redeemed, but that just seems to be a repeat of Anakin Skywalker’s tale. If Jacen is ultimately redeemed, something has to be different; otherwise, we’ve just watched a rerun of episodes 1-3, and I’m honestly not a huge fan of the prequels, lol. The whole point of LotF is to take Star Wars in a new direction. Honestly, I’m not sure how they’re gonna end it… but I like that. I like not being able to predict the ending, for a change…
So here’s another question: what role do you think the Mandalore army is going to play in the upcoming civil war?

in exile jacen has a possible vision of leia coming abord the anakin solo to kill him. there may come a point when jacen is about to kill han when he realizes this will bring that future to pass.

Also maybe the ressurection power can only be done by someone incredibly powerful. the skywalker family is the most powerful in history so they can do it but not many if any others can.

That would be a huge anti-climax for all of the expectations of an epic battle if Jacen was killed off by a non Force user, especially an ancient one like Boba Fett. I for one, would be quite disatisfied with that. I am expecting however, that someone will have a great battle with Jacen and either end up killing him or redeeming him to the light side. I can’t decide who this will be though. Jaina seems an obvious choice, yet the authors seem to have hardly done anything with her character and are pretty much using her as a minor player… plus the fact that it is implied that Jacen is far superior to her in Force and lightsaber fighting skills. HIs down fall if he did end up fighting her in the end would most likely be his arrogance. Luke also seems likely, but the fact that he finished off the sith last time makes me believe that he will pass on the legacy to another, or else he would pretty much become an imortal element in the series. Han and Leia I could hardly see, mainly because Traviss was asserting that Leia definately would not have the stomach to fight her son on that sort of life or death context. My best guess is that it would be Ben, an idea that seems to me to be supported both by the title of the series and the fact that he has become the closest one to Jacen in the past books.

Jacen knew that Mara did not disappear into the force so that her body could be studied and autopsied in the hope that Jacen would somehow be found out.
As for raising others back to life, I am not sure that it was anything more than Darth Sidious trying to ensnare Anakin Skywalker. He himself said that “Plaeguis’ apprentice learned everything from his master, then killed him in his sleep.” If Sidious is indeed Plaeguis’ former apprentice (he is; read the novelization authorized by Lucas), then didn’t he learn “everything”? If he didn’t know how to keep people alive, as he told Vader, then neither did Plaeguis, which makes the whole thing popycock.
Of course, apparently Cade Skywalker can do it (see Legacy comics), so it’s technically possible… but I don’t think they’ll bring back Mara or anyone else with the technique. It just seems too… easy. If someone can be brought back, then there’s no longer any true danger. You never have to fear for a character’s life, or mourn their eternal loss, like we did with Chewbacca after “Vector Prime.” I just don’t see the “resurrection” power being employed in Mara’s case… wouldn’t that change the name of the book from “Sacrifice”?

I would be ecstatic if Mara came back; I’m with you, Siniska, she has been one of my very favorite characters for a long time: I literally cried when she died…. It would be very interesting if she was brought back to life, especially if it was by Luke when the task has been pretty much labeled as a dark side act. There would also be a good twist if Jacen brought her back, thereby making Luke indebted to him and make him pressured not to kill him. However, if this did happen, it would make it seem that the authors have no real power to take out a character for good, therefore lessening any measure of suspense…

One thing that I missed though: is one’s body dissapearing into the Force a real last minute choice or is it controlled by other elements. At one point it was aluded to that Jacen knew the real reason why Mara did not meld into the force. What does this mean?

a little green friend of mine said its easier not stronger. i think luke will bring mara back to life afterhe sees a holo of vader saying he can create life. this would halt bens supposed path to the dark side.
luke or ben will tap into the ultimate force power to bring someone back to life.

lucas made this power up but we have not seen it used. ever.
it will be used by either jacen,luke, or ben. maybe even leia since shes lukes twin.

I would like to see Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus unify the jedi under the sith mantle in the end, A “Selfless” Sith in the end would be more at one with the force than any Jedi or self absorbed Sith because he would be more powerfull than a Jedi thanks to his knowledge of the darkside of the force and also through his absolution that anyone who needs to be sacrificed to unite everyone will be, and the other side of the coin, being selfless like a jedi, he doesnt want to rule, just to unite and save the galaxy from itself in essence, but in the end, he will probably fall off this path and resort to the same old train of thought that was the downfall of his grandfather and every other sith lord before him. Id like to see him prevail anyway, but it wont happen, for that to happen hed have to kill luke, and i just dont see it happening, thats Lucas’ prize character and he will never kill him off, but heres to hoping hahaha
p.s. even tho i am a fan of jacen/caedus i am not happy with him killing mara jade. Ever since the thrawn trilogy shes been one of my favorites so I VOTE BRING BACK MARA!!!

Ben might kill Jacen Solo. It would be a tragic end, but more or less fitting. I personally hope Jacen somehow makes it through the entire series; his views on the Unifying Force are revolutionary and, quite honestly, fantastic. But if he has to die, Ben is the one set up to do it. Not Luke, not Leia… but here’s a wild idea: what if HAN had to kill him? Had his ship at his mercy, and was forced to fire on–and kill–Darth Caedus? Strange candy for the mind, eh?
I know it will never happen, but I would love for Kyp to come out of his self-imposed depression and show a little bit of that Carida spunk he had in Kevin J. Anderson’s Jedi Academy Trilogy. I’d also love to see Nom Anor come back, in one way or another; he’s the perfect slimy bureaucrat, the guy you love to hate. We need some of that old-school NJO flavor in the LotF mix.
And I think killing Luke would be appropriate, but they won’t do it. Lucas has refused time and again to even broach the topic. They wanted to do it in NJO, but he got mad and threatened to pull the plug on the entire project. He’s too connected to his own universe to really let authors play with it. Luke NEEDS to die… it will spark a wave of changes and new plot lines in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

By the way… what is your fascination with Anakin Solo? Your thoughts on him don’t even make sense. On this forum, you claim he’s going to come back and have a reckoning with his brother, Jacen. But in the one talking about who Darth Krayt is, you claim that Anakin Solo IS Darth Krayt. Mind explaining to me why the writers of Legacy and Legacy of the Force would do something so wildly uninventive as bring Anakin Solo back, only to have him fight his Sith brother… THEN, inexplicably, become Sith himself?

Personal insults aside, the novels of NJO and Legacy of the Force have reached a new level of interesting storytelling. Why? Because they don’t pull the kind of inane crap that so many of the Bantam series books did. Don’t get me wrong; my favorite Star Wars books have always been (and, in all likelihood, always WILL be) the Thrawn Trilogy; but some of the later Bantam books, as well as lots of the comic book storylines, were downright corny. Multiple clones of the Emperor?!? Can we say “reaching for plot”?
The NJO and Legacy of the Force are original and unique in the Star Wars universe… but that would no longer be true if they simply decided, instead of being creative, that they’d just “bring Anakin Solo back.” That’s just… dumb. It’s uninspired, unoriginal, and it SERVES NO PURPOSE. Seriously!
I understand the fanboy urge… I’m a fanboy myself. I did the Carlton Dance when I read Jacen and Tenel Ka hooking up in the Dark Nest Trilogy. I understand that fanboy urge to defy logic. Sometimes, I have the urge to say: “Forget good storytelling! It’d be AWESOME if they brought Grand Admiral Thrawn back to life!” But it WOULDN’T be. As great of a character as he is, bringing him back would only be a Mary Sue/Deus Ex Machina that devalued the storyline.
They will think of an original, inspired way to bring a long-lost character back into the spotlight… which means that the brave, noble Anakin Solo stays brave, noble… and dead.
I notice that, while you aren’t above personal jabs, you weren’t quite able to refute anything that I said. The point, I’m afraid, goes to me.

I agree with A-Nonymous: Anakin Solo is dead, and should stay that way. The idea of the “Legacy of the Force” series, as well as that of the NJO, is to move forward. To move the story forward, to move the characters forward… if Jacen is “dark, plain and simple” then the story’s no different than any of the other “old” Star Wars stories. And this series is nothing if not different. Basically, that means that bringing Anakin Solo back would be a HORRIBLE thing to do!
My friend, you are wrong on nearly every point. Please, in good conscience, give me the chance to prove it:
1.) He’s NOT doing it all for Allana. At several crucial moments, he has even confronted the possibility that he would have to kill Allana. Also, note what Lumiya herself says in her own private thoughts in regards to Jacen: “He is the first Sith Lord motivated not by pure selfishness, but by pure selfLESSness.” That’s not her pretending… it’s her innermost thoughts, which we (the audience) alone are privy to.
2.) His reasoning behind attacking the Chiss in the Dark Nest trilogy was because of his vision that showed a terrible galactic conflict coming to life if he didn’t supercede it. In truthfulness, by bringing about the Chiss-Killik conflict, which involved the Hapan fleet, he was endangering his daughter further.
3.) He’s ABSOLUTELY NOT the most selfish Jedi ever. Kyp got angry with the Empire, so he used the Sun Crusher to destroy an entire solar system; Jaina got mad that Anakin died, so she went all dark and emo on everybody for no good reason; Luke went dark and killed several innocent people juso so he could “understand the dark side.”
4.) Anakin IS DEAD. The writers mentioned bringing someone long THOUGHT dead to the forefront again. But Anakin really IS dead. Jacen saw him die, and all of the other Jedi felt the Force leave him. Also, the Yuuzhan Vong found his corpse while Nom Anor was pursuing Jacen on Myrkr. No way around that, unless they do something gay like cloning him. And, no matter how much you might want to deny it, cloning Anakin Solo would be REALLY gay. Again, I say: Deus Ex Machina, anyone? Besides, they already had that weird Anakin Solo robot in “Betrayal.” Also, Anakin Solo is NOT the “reincarnation of Vader as a good guy.” Compare Anakin Skywalker and Anakin Solo, and you’ll see they’re COMPLETELY different people. Plus… why would Anakin Solo choose not to return to his family, like Jacen did?
5.) The engineers of the NJO and Legacy of the Force have all along said that Jacen is the hero of the piece. Read the interviews at the end of “The Unifying Force.” They talk about sitting down and agreeing on two things: one, that Anakin was going to die; and two: that Jacen was to be the central figure to carry the torch of the NJO into the future. That leads me to believe that, not only is Anakin dead for keeps, but that Jacen will be redeemed (or, perhaps, proven right?).
6.) As for who will be coming back to the forefront, I have another theory: perhaps they are referring to Boba Fett’s wife, who was revealed at the end of “Sacrifice” to be alive in carbonite. But if not, I still say either Vergere or Nom Anor, because they could serve a PURPOSE to the storyline. If it’s Anakin, all he does is pop up like a Deus Ex Machina, fight Jacen, and then they all have a party, and it’s just another stinkin’ clone of stories past. It can’t end that way. That’s too bland and pathetic.

First off, neither Anakin Skywalker nor Luke fulfill the requirements of bringing balance. Anakin was, for the most part, of the dark side, while Luke has dedicated himself to eradicating all traces of the dark side from the galaxy. Jacen, however, blends the light and dark perfectly, at least in terms of the Force as the Jedi see it. While he might excercise control and consolidate power over others, his ends and results are of the light. With the exception of Nelani in “Betrayal,” Jacen hasn’t gone off and murdered anyone (well, Fett’s daughter, but he didn’t do that on purpose). His goals and desires are, unlike all other Sith, “purely selfless.” So Anakin Skywalker is, in effect, the one who brings balance… through his grandson, Jacen Solo.
As for this mystery character which will reappear… in all likelihood, it will be Vergere. The only other name I have seen mentioned that has any merit at all, from a literary and plot-oriented standpoint, is Nom Anor. Vergere has to, at some point, appear to make her own motivations and positions apparent to Jacen. Otherwise, the entire plot will have an open question mark in it forever… and that’s just not good storytelling.
Jaina cannot–repeat, canNOT–take Jacen in a fight, although with the Star Wars universe’s preoccupation with siblings (Luke and Leia, Jacen and Jaina, Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma, just to name a few), I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if she was indeed the one to eventually defeat him, like Obi-Wan besting Anakin Skywalker. If they choose to do it, it’s going to be a case of terribly bad judgment. They have made Jacen far too strong to be stopped by Jaina. Jaina is a proud and strong warrior, easily one of the strongest and most-skilled in the New Jedi Order; but, as we see in Dark Journey, she is prone to the dark side as well, but is unable to control herself as Jacen is. She should not be the one to put Jacen down. Also, I’d like to point out that her harsh treatment of Jacen is immature and squalid, given her own struggles with the dark side in times past.
Personally, I would love to see Kyp Durron in action once again. He, Luke, and Jacen are easily the three strongest members of the New Jedi Order, and to watch the former bad boy of the Jedi go up against the new bad boy would be nothing short of stupendous. As a character, he is languishing; nothing has been done with him since he joined the Jedi Council.
Lastly, and most importantly… NO WAY IN HELL SHOULD THEY BRING ANAKIN SOLO BACK!!! Sorry… but it’s true. Can you say “Deus Ex Machina”? No. No way. His death served a purpose, and to bring him back could well undermine that purpose. First Jason Todd, and now this?!? No! Anakin Solo as a character was often bratty and annoying, but his eventual transformation into a competent and admirable character (In Edge I and II) before his death in Star by Star was perfect tragic poetry. To become strong, solid, and fall in love right before death was, in a word, perfect… except a small fanboy part of me would love to see an Anakin/Tahiri reunion. However, it’s not worth it. Like LSD and bad imitation collectibles, what do we do with Anakin coming back?
JUST SAY NO!
PS- The same goes for Anakin Skywalker. He served his purpose. Let him go.

again another misleading prophecy, the balance spoke of is more in terms of alema evening the balance between good and evil. so the fact that jedi now keep families allows to show that all rules and jedi codes can tinker either side, vergere taught jacen some cool stuff and his 5yr journey taught how to be just like palpetine!

I kind of hope that Darth Caedus makes it past this series. I don’t want a total extinction of the Jedi again, but I wouldn’t mind seeing how powerfull he can get.
It’s gotta be Luke that kills him in the long run. I have always believed him to be the chosen one over Anakin Skywalker. Could he restore balance to the force for the second time? If not Luke I hope it’s Jaina, there is just no way a 14 year old kills a Sith. As powerful as Ben will be one day, he can’t do it yet.

It could be Callista, she dropped of the face of the Galaxy, and *could* touch the force through the dark side.

I also believe Ben will be the one who turns/kills Caedus. He has been a central character since the first book of the series, on Adumar.

There are 4 books to go in the series … Ben can learn a whole lot in that time.

I think Ben will be the one to deal with Jacen. This is why Jacen has taught Ben the neccessary skills that could be used against Jacen. I think he was training Ben as a failsafe with only certain skills instead of various other dark skills. This way Lumiya would be convinced that Ben wasn’t an adequate apprentice and Ben could be able to kill Jacen. I refer to skills such as being able to withdraw from the force and such.

Just a theory (and not my only one) but I had to throw in my 2 cents.

As far as who is coming back, why not Callista. She stayed away all this time because Luke was with Mara. It may be time to see if she has found her powers yet.
I would also really like to Talon Karrde come back. He is such an interesting character. It won’t be as fun as Lando getting involved again, but there is definatly a part for him to play.
And, I can’t wait until Jaina finds out Jacen killed Mara. It’s gonna take everything Luke has to keep her from killing Caedus.
Lastly, what books is this Krayt from…comics? I only read the novels so, I don’t know what goes on those storylines.

the long dead character coming back should be vergere so that she may step into lumiyas place and continue teaching jacen some of the sith techniques she knows. krayt is Ben skywalker 1 krayt dragons are from tattooine, 2 dude has a blue eye,3 jacen stated that ben will take over for him, 4 the disease krayt has is the coomb spore that nom anor infected mara with. it didnt die, just laid dormant for years. ben even already uses vong armor
